There is no better way to view the lush wine countryside of Temecula Valley than in a hot-air balloon floating high over the manicured rows of vineyards, past colorful fields of flowers blanketing rolling hills under clear azure skies. However, if you are more adventuresome, you might try hang gliding.
Old Town Temecula has a true "Old West" stagecoach stop. This town is proud of its heritage, and much of the old "Wild West" lives in the events that are held throughout the year, as well as in several of the specialty shops. Restaurants also help to keep that same spirit alive. If you're looking for some night life, the Pechanga Resort & Casino is California's biggest resorts. It has Triple-A, 4-Diamond amenities and services which makes this one of the most popular resorts around. Several city blocks are sectioned off so that everyone has the opportunity to take a peek under the hoods of these fine automobiles. There are several hiking and biking trails to explore around the lake, and camping, too. Lake Skinner and Lake Elsinore are popular with water skiers as well as jet skiers. Shoppers will enjoy browsing through the Promenade Mall that houses more than 100 associated businesses and at least that many retail outlets and restaurants for a full day of shopping, entertainment, and dining. Throughout the year, special events are taking place. Pennypickle's Workshop has won Nickelodeon's Parent's Picks Award for "Best Museum". Of particular interest is the Fallbrook Historical Society which houses handcrafted models of 12 historic Fallbrook buildings and a functioning model railroad with a replica of the original train that served the area in the early 1900s. For more fun, the San Diego Zoo is about 42 miles from Fallbrook. And for a day on the beach, Ocean Beach is 40 miles from Fallbrook, and Mission beach is 37 miles away. For the kid in all of us, Disneyland is just 46 miles from Fallbrook. Golfers can select from several championship golf courses in Temecula Valley. Among them is the Cross Creek Golf Club, a 6833-yard, 18-hole course that perfectly blends in with its natural surroundings.
